A week later we will have received your trays back from the laboratory. At this appointment, we will make sure that the trays are a good fit and that they are comfortable for you to wear. If yourself and the dentist are happy with the fit of the trays, we will then explain and demonstrate how to loads the bleach into the trays. We recommend…
- Firstly, brush your teeth as you normally would, using brush and toothpaste.
- Secondly, make sure that your trays are dry. (Make sure there is no water sitting in the grooves of the trays that may distort the concentration of the bleach.) using a cotton bud to remove the water is easiest.
- Apply an ‘apple pip’ size amount of bleach into each tooth groove in the tray.
- Seat the trays – remove any excess bleach from around the edge of the tray using a cotton bud. (This prevents any excess bleach from aggravating the gums)
During the appointment, more detailed instructions will be explained to you. We will also offer you a written copy of instructions that you are more than welcome to take home with you.
After that appointment, you will take home your bleaching trays, 4 syringes of bleach (3ml) and a copy of the instructions.
Ideally you will wear your bleaching trays for 4-6 hours over a 14-night period to get the best results. (This process does not have to be done over consecutive nights. However, we recommended that you complete the process within a month or so of starting.)
